It is Remembrance Sunday this weekend with a service taking place in Memorial Square.

The Coalville event, which is always well supported by the public, is organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and the Coalville Remembrance Partnership.

The parade leaves Christ Church at 10.40am passing along Hotel Street and High Street, culminating in a service to mark the two minutes silence and a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Memorial Square.

During the two minutes silence, poppy petals will be released from the top of the Memorial Clock Tower to honour of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces.  To allow for the parade to pass along Hotel Street and High Street, a road closure will be in place on Sunday 10 November from 10am until 12pm. Road users are reminded to use an alternative route whilst it's closed.

On Friday, the Century Theatre in Coalville is showing the film Firebrand.

Katherine Parr, the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, is named regent while the tyrant battles abroad.

When the king returns, increasingly ill and paranoid, Katherine finds herself fighting for her own survival.

Singer-songwriter Katie Spencer is playing live at the Old Barn at the 1620s House in Donington le Heath on Friday.

If you like quality folk guitar playing and singing, all interwoven with thoughtful and clever lyrics, you will be blown away by Katie's performance.

Coalville Fire Station has a Have A Go Day at its Broad Street base on Saturday.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service is recruiting Firefighters across the Service.

Prior to applications opening, it is holding several 'Have a Go' taster days.

These will be taking place over the coming weeks to give people an insight into what the role of a Firefighter entails, as well as the required strength, fitness and aptitude levels.

It will also give you the chance to find out more information on how rewarding a career in the fire and rescue service is, and what paths of progression there are.

The event is free, and there is no obligation to apply to be a Firefighter if you attend.
