Sunday 10th November
North West Leicestershire will remember and reflect on the sacrifices of fallen soldiers at a Remembrance Day service and parade on Sunday 10 November.
The Coalville event, which is always well supported by the public, is organised by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and the Coalville Remembrance Partnership.
The parade leaves Christ Church at 10.40am passing along Hotel Street and High Street, culminating in a service to mark the two minutes silence and a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Memorial Square.
During the two minutes silence, poppy petals will be released from the top of the Memorial Clock Tower to honour of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces. To allow for the parade to pass along Hotel Street and High Street, a road closure will be in place on Sunday 10 November from 10am until 12pm. Road users are reminded to use an alternative route whilst it's closed.
A Poppy Appeal stall will be at the outdoor Marlborough Square Market on Friday 1 November and Friday 8 November, as well as inside Newmarket from Tuesday 29 October until Tuesday 12 November where poppies can be purchased.
Other services and events to mark Remembrance:
- The Poppy Appeal launch, supported by the Leicestershire and Rutland Royal British Legion at the War Memorial in Coalville on Saturday 26 October at 11am
- An Armistice Day Service at the War Memorial in Coalville on Monday 11 November at 11am
