Stealth Black Belt Academy held their annual Points Fighting Championship last Saturday.

In all, 54 fighters stepped forward to challenge for the Custom Championship belts sponsored by local firm One Stop Shoe repairs (High Street Coalville).

The winners of these specially made belts will hold the title and fight it off throughout the coming years to retain their status as ultimate points fighting champion.

Stealth's Coalville and Hathern Academies competed at the event, with fighters' ages ranging from six to 50.

The evening was split up into six categories.

• Under 8s

• Under 11s

• Under 14s

• Women's Open

• Lightweight Men's

• Heavyweight Men's

With a packed-out crowd in the arena, the atmosphere was electric as the fights got under way.

Notable highlights of the evening were Stealth Coalville's family success in three categories.

Dan Tebbett (18) kicked off the evening with a battle between father and son in an epic display of skill and respectful force as the two powerhouses went at it.

Dan took the lead to beat his father and went on to take the title belt for Stealth Coalville in two more superb challenges against Callum Platts, and fighting off the incredible kicking game of Liam Capel.

Lucy Tebbett (14) showed beautiful and deadly kicking ability in her category of U14s, making light work of both Hathern's Millie Bodycote and Dominic Juchno.

The final bout being a dual female challenge of Lucy vs Lucy with Lucy Botterill also taking the category head on after both surpassing the categories top male and female fighters.

Ultimately Lucy Tebbett's skillful technique shone through in the final to win her the U14's belt for Stealth Coalville.

Fighter of the night was Billy Tebbett (16) who took the crowd by storm in his opening fight against the club's most decorated men's fighter, Jack Bromley.

The two were toe to toe throughout with amazing speed and hits being shown.

Billy's head-kicking ability came shining through to surpass the seasoned fighter and progress through the knockouts. He took this through to his following bouts and successfully championed top level teen fighter Will Robson, to take the lightweight men's title for a triple success for all the Tebbett siblings.

The women's open was a strong display with Bobbie Plant (27) taking the title for Stealth Hathern.

Emily Twyford tested the young fighter (20 years her junior) with some superb aggressive combinations which took Bobbie on the back foot in the second round.

Bobbie took the narrow win with her head kicking ability and pushed through to the final with Jess Phillips. The two fought it out in a battle of will which saw Bobbie take the win to bring the belt home.

In the biggest category of the night the U8s title bout was a fury of energy.

Luis Stone (8) of Stealth Hathern came out on top to win his title belt.

A very considerate fighter with extraordinary kicking ability saw Luis take on challengers of varying size.

Luis's natural athleticism gained him the win after three epic battles with amazing kicking discipline and skill from the promising young fighter.

Champion of the evening for the U11s was Jake Kerr (9) from Stealth Hathern.

The young fighter is no stranger to competition and regularly placed silver and bronze in previous bouts.

Not shy of a challenge, he took his skill set to the line with Stealth's Tudor Borgnic in the first round.

Keeping his nerves to get through the knockouts and onto the next set of bouts. Stealth Coalville's Jacob Johnstone showing the same fight and display saw him soar through his challenges to end in a final between the two clubs' top U11 fighters.

Both went at it in the final fight, but it was Jake's sharp side kicks that took him to victory and won him his first ever gold and title belt. Setting a great example of perseverance to his fellow team mates.

The champions have now set the standard and will be training hard to retain their belts at the next battle later this year against the No1 contenders across the clubs already training to challenge them for a shot at the title.
