Coalville Town say they have pulled off a 'massive coup' by signing ex-Football League striker Billy Kee.

The club's official website announced the signing on Sunday.

Kee, 29, has taken a six month break from football for personal reasons which he has spoken publicly about in the past.

His contract at Accrington Stanley was cancelled by mutual consent two weeks ago and the Ravens were able to make their move.

Kee began his career at Leicester City before playing for Burton Albion, Torquay United and Accrington where he helped them into League One.

Coalville Chairman Glyn Rennocks told the club's official website: "When someone of Billy's calibre becomes available on our doorstep you have to do everything you can to get him on board.

"Since we met last week it's been a pleasure to deal with him and we're delighted he's chosen us over a host of big names in non-league.

"Being a Leicester-based lad our location suits him perfectly, he can now balance working full time whilst playing part time football. I would like to thank everyone behind the scenes who has helped get this deal over the line.'

Ravens manager Adam Stevens added: "I'm delighted to get Billy back on the football pitch again, he's my type of player whose experience, ability and know-how will be invaluable to us in the run-in.

"To choose us is a massive coup for the Club and local area . I'm sure Billy and family will fit in with our family club ethos and enjoy his football again.'
