Young Coalville footballers score a four-figure boost from local homebuilder

A Coalville girls football team is celebrating after receiving a funding boost to support their future success.
Coalville Town Ravenettes U13s have been awarded £1,000 from Persimmon Homes North Midlands through their Community Champions initiative.
The funding will help the team purchase a much-needed new home strip, ensuring the players look the part as they continue their impressive season and their strong league performance.
The cheque presentation was attended by long term volunteers Councillor Russell Johnson and Councillor John Geary as well as Nadine O'Dowd from Persimmon Homes North Midlands.
Cllr Johnson said: "It's great to see the Ravenettes getting the support they deserve.
"This funding will go a long way in helping the team thrive."
Cllr Geary added: "I've been a long-term volunteer at Coalville Ravenettes.
"Clubs like this are at the heart of our community, and it's brilliant to see them getting a boost to keep moving forward."
Chris James looks after the Coalville Town Ravenettes U13s and said: "Most of the girls have been part of this team since they were eight years old – and a few since they were just six.
"Over the years, football has given them so much more than just a game: it's helped them build friendships, grow in confidence, and stay active.
"Support from businesses like Persimmon is absolutely vital in helping us provide essential equipment and kit."
Nadine O'Dowd, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands added: "We are proud to support local communities and grassroots sports to help young players reach their full potential.
"We're delighted to be able to support Coalville Town Ravenettes U13s, and we wish the team every success for the rest of the season."
