Theatre is a main attraction in the area this weekend.

On Sunday, the 1620s House in Donington le Heath has an open air production of Pride and Prejudice.

llyria's production of Jane Austen's glorious social comedy attracted sell-out audiences for a total of six years.

It toured throughout the UK and Europe, attracted nationwide critical acclaim.

In a whirlwind of balls, dinners and very eligible officers, Lizzy Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy stand alone as the only sane, thoughtful people – and they hate each other! Or do they? Can she see beyond his pride, and can he overcome her prejudice, in order to achieve happiness?

If your idea of Jane Austen is stuffy costume drama then this sparkling adaptation may make you change your mind. Bring a picnic and have a ball as the irrepressible Illyria sharpen their claws to bring you Jane Austen at her vibrant best!

In Ibstock, the Palace Players are presenting their summer showcase over two days - Saturday and Sunday.

This is being held at The Palace in the High Street.

Described as a 'family friendly showcase' the Players will be performing Summer Nights.

The Heather Scarecrow Festival continues until Sunday.

Once a year, in the nicest possible way, the good people of Heather go slightly insane!

Throughout the village, the gardens are dotted with scarecrows, scores and scores of them, some of celebs, some topical, many of them cheerfully daft, and all competing for the votes of the people who come from miles around to see them.

Scarecrow Headquarters is based Heather St John's Football Club (LE67 2QJ) where there is ample parking and facilities.
