Tattoo artist wins approval to open studio in Coalville

By Graham Hill 8th Sep 2020

A Hugglescote tattoo artist has been given the green light to open a studio in Coalville.

James Hurst, of Soul Creation Tattoo, has won planning permission from North West Leicestershire District Council to change the use of a long-term vacant office building at The Courtyard, Stenson Road, into the new studio.

In a document supporting his application Mr Hurst, who has been operating from a space at a Leicester city centre barbers for eight years, says: "My business is a private, appointment-only studio which usually has a minimum of five to six months waiting list.

"On average, there is a maximum of one to two clients per day; therefore, there will be little to no disruption to neighbouring businesses.

"Privacy is of upmost importance to both myself and my clients and The Courtyard provides this; unlike High Street retail units which usually encourages the general public to walk in."

Mr Hurst, who specialises in black and grey custom tattoos, describes the unit as 'fit for purpose' and no structural or external changes will be needed.

"As a local resident, I am looking forward to not only working closer to home but also to adding to the local economy," he adds.
