Castle Rock School pupils who came into contact with a member of staff who tested positive for coronavirus are being urged to self-isolate.
Staff at the school who came into contact with their colleague are also following NHS guidance and self-isolating.
The head of school Michael Gamble wrote to parents late on Sunday evening advising that Public Health England (PHE) had been consulted and that anyone who came into contact with the staff member had been contacted by NHS Test and Trace.
Students in several classes and tutor groups were asked 'as a precautionary measure' to stay at home yesterday.
But, in a follow-up letter yesterday (Mon), Mr Gamble says: "We have spoken to PHE again this morning who have advised us that the identified students who may have come into contact with the member of staff should self-isolate until 18 September.
"These students have been contacted by telephone and issued with a letter by PHE.
"We have been assured by PHE that other members of each student's household affected (eg siblings and parents) can continue normal activities and then follow Government guidance should symptoms occur.
"In addition, staff who came into contact with the staff member are also following NHS guidance and are self-isolating.
"We appreciate these are challenging and unprecedented times and would like to reiterate and reassure you that the safety of our students and staff is at the forefront of all decisions.
"Finally, thank you to the parents of our students whom we have contacted today [Mon] who have been supportive and understanding of the measures we have taken."
Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited Castle Rock School less than a fortnight ago, speaking to returning students about how important it was to come back to the classroom.
