Firecrews tackling field fire in Coalville

Two fire crews from Coalville are among seven Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service vehicles tackling a corn fire this afternoon (Tues).

The fire service received several calls about the blaze in a field of corn in Chiswell Drive just before 3.45pm.

Also mobilised were Castle Donnington, Ashby and Swadlincote firecrews along with the Shepshed command support vehicle and Loughborough water carrier.

A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesman said at 4.30pm today: "We received several calls to a field fire involving standing corn.

"One field is involved in the fire and well alight.

"Two hose reel jets and beaters in use."
