The George Smith Hub, Coalville Community Cafe on Hotel Street will be closing at the end of this month.

It is a decision that has been made due a lack of future funding, according to a statement released this afternoon (Monday).

The Hub is part of the Leicestershire-based Falcon Support Services, a registered charity with the mission to help vulnerable people transform their lives, enabling them to live independently, healthily and positively contribute to their community.

It adds the Community Hub helps to prevent homelessness and community isolation.

The statement reads: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the George Smith Hub, Coalville Community Cafe on Hotel Street will be closing at the end of March, 2024.

"Unfortunately, we have been unable to secure funding to continue this community service and have had to come to the difficult decision to cease our support service.

"We understand that this news may cause concern among our stakeholders, including employees, volunteers, customers and partner agencies."

The Hub was opened less than two years ago and occupied part of the former Number 22 building in Hotel Street.

It adds that other options were explored before it was decided to close the Hub.

The statement continues: "We want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly, and every possible avenue to sustain our community support services for Coalville was explored before arriving at this conclusion.

"We would like to express our deepest gratitude for all the support, dedication, and partnership we have received during our time in Coalville.

"It has been an incredible journey, and we are immensely proud of the difference it has made to people's lives in Coalville.

"We deeply regret any inconvenience or disruption this closure may cause, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time.

"Thank you once again for your support and partnership.

"It has been an honour to serve the Coalville community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with so many amazing individuals and organisations."
