The George Smith Hub was officially opened in Coalville town centre earlier this month.

It is a community hub that occupies part of the former Number 22 building in Hotel Street.

The Coalville CAN community group were pleased to be invited to the opening and pulled together to come up with ideas for a stall.

After many attempts and brainstorming ideas, they agreed on community asset bingo.

This involved people naming places that meant the most to them.

For example, the Hugglescote bear, as they found the story behind it a cutone.

Another said she loved the new benches in the precinct as it means she can now talk to people.

The activity helped everyone see new things that they may not have known about before, and it also helped to see and share what the community around them love in the area.

There were some amazing organisations at The Hub, including our hosts Falcon Services who work alongside the homeless.

North West Leicestershire District Council were also there along with Leicestershire County Council representatives, along with Falcon Services' partners Enrych.

Food and drink is very affordable there, and childen go free with an adult between 3-4pm.

On Mondays the Hub runs advice, support and guidance from Falcon support services.

On Tuesday, it has the Enrych Feel Good Cafè.

There will also digital empowerment course and many more courses throughout the week - Message @enrych on Twitter for more information.

Enrych's CEO, Liz Rickaby said: "We are pleased to be working in partnership with Falcon to provide the community in Coalville with a great space in which they can access a range of services as well as providing a relaxing and welcoming space in which to socialise."

Falcon's CEO, Marie Davis said: "We hope that the George Smith Hub will mould to the needs of the local community in Coalville.

"We're really pleased to have taken on this space and with the support of local volunteers and community groups we see it being a real long-term success."
