Police Seek Witnesses After Dog Kills Young Swan at Fishing Lake In Whitwick

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident in Whitwick in which a dog attacked a young swan which died as a result.

The incident happened on Thursday, June 11, at the Hermitage Fishing Lake.

It comes after a similar incident at the same venue last month when a swan was attacked by a dog and had to be put down Swan attacked by dog in Whitwick.

Now North West Leicestershire Police are seeking information about the latest incident.

They posted an appeal on Facebook which reads: "We are appealing for information following a further incident that has come to our attention in the Whitwick area.

"It has been reported that on the morning of Thursday 11th June 2020, at Hermitage Fishing Lake and Recreation Ground, a dog was witnessed attacking a cygnet which reportedly died due to its injuries.

"If you were at this location at the time and witnessed the incident, please make contact with us to assist in identifying the dog owner.

"Please quote the reference number below and raise it for the attention of PC 237 Emma Holmes from our Rural Crime Team, 20*296880."
