Plans to build a 20 metre (65ft foot) mobile phone mast close to the Amazon centre in Ellistown have been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council.

CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd of Reading want to install the mast on Beveridge Road on 'Land North Of Amazon'.

An accompanying letter to the council reads: "The location has been identified as being necessary for CK Hutchison Networks (UK) Ltd's business development.

"This follows pre-application discussion with your department and we now make a formal application to you as the planning authority."

The letter adds that Hutchison is a licensed operator of a communications network in accordance of the Communications Act 2003.
