A new dentist surgery is set to open in Coalville after being given the go-ahead by North West Leicestershire District Council.

It is planned to take over from the former Yorkshire Bank offices at 25-27 Belvoir Shopping Centre.

We reported last May that the application had been submitted to the council for the dentist surgery to occupy the unit New dentist is planned for Coalville town centre.

Now planning permission has been granted and a report by Manchester-based planning consultancy Rapleys says: "The property comprises the former Yorkshire Bank premises located within Coalville Town Centre.

"It fronts onto the pedestrianised area of the Belvoir Shopping Centre. Given the site's location within a defined town centre, there is a variety of uses within the surrounding area.

"Through establishing this use, it is proposed to convert the property for dentistry use."

A council officer's report adds: "The existing building currently operates as a bank, the application seeks to change the use of the building to a dental practice.

"The proposal to operate No. 25-27 Belvoir Shopping Centre, Coalville as a dentist from a bank is considered to represent a lawful proposed use as a material change."
