Coalville Town have announced former Mansfield Town youth team skipper Kyle Tomlin as their first summer signing.

The Ravens' website says that 19-year-old Tomlin came through the ranks at Mansfield and eventually captained them during their FA Youth Cup campaign where he scored a stunning goal from the half way line against QPR that went viral.

You can see the goal for yourself in the video above.

His time at the Stags ended this summer and Coalville have confirmed he has signed a one-year contract despite interest from numerous other non-league clubs.

Excelled

Tomlin can operate at centre-half, right-back and is also viewed by the coaching team at Owen Street to be a potential central midfielder in the future.

Manager Adam Stevens said: "Kyle has excelled in training.

"He's a hungry young footballer who can play in various positions which is important for us. He is so keen to do well and we will improve him as the season goes on.

"He's the type of player who fits our remit and has already settled in to our close knit squad.'

Coalville begin their pre-season programme at Anstey Nomads, (7.30pm) on Thursday followed by a trip to Paget Rangers on Saturday (11.30am).
