A charity providing outdoor activity experiences has received a £1,000 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville.

The donation was made to Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, a charity which promotes health and wellbeing through confidence-boosting activities such as abseiling, aerial trekking and high ropes.

The charity also offers a range of training courses including first aid, wilderness skills and climbing.

Funding from Amazon has been used to help fund replacement of equipment for the high-rope activity course.

The previous high rope was installed over 10 years ago and the charity wanted to future-proof the facilities for generations to come.

Tracey Foster, General Manager at Amazon in Coalville, said: "We're pleased to help Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre refresh its excellent facilities.

"We hope the new equipment for the course will facilitate another 10 years of fun and adventure for future generations."

Nicole Davis from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville, who has visited Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre with her family, added:

"My family and I have had many enjoyable days at Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, and I'm pleased my team is able to help the charity to improve its facilities."

Stuart Fraser, Centre Manager for the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre said: "I would like to thank Tracey and the team at Amazon in Coalville for this donation, which will ensure we can continue supporting the community across Leicester."

Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre received the donation as part of Amazon's programme to support communities in and around its operating locations throughout the UK.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering more than six million healthy breakfasts to families across England.
