Marlene Reid Centre teams up with local charity to operate trial shuttle bus to 'gem' of an attraction
Coalville's Marlene Reid Centre will be operating a free shuttle bus trial to 'local gem' Ulverscroft Grange this Spring.
The Belvoir Road-based charity wants to collaborate with the Shuttlewood Clarke Foundation as part of the arrangement.
MRC has already successfully teamed up with Enrych to set up the Feel Good Café this year - and says that has made it aware of how powerful collaboration between local charities can be.
It says that, through sharing resources, MRC is able to offer improved services to clients - and ultimately supercharge both organisations' offerings.
As a result, the spring shuttle trial has been born out of high transport costs and reductions in available bus services - which makes it likely that many would struggle to travel to outlying places like Ulverscroft Grange.
MRC saw that as the perfect opportunity to use its transport resources to support the community in visiting local attractions.
Transport is being offered to all age groups completely free of charge with pick-ups and drop-offs around the Coalville area.
Paul Fagan, General Manager at MRC Community Action, said: "I'm well aware that the comparatively short distance to Ulverscroft Grange will prevent those not fortunate enough to have a car to visit and that's such a shame.
"It's a real local gem and both organisations are incredibly passionate about inclusion.
"It just makes so much sense for us to team up and provide transport from the more urban areas of the district so that more people get to experience the tranquil woodland and hopefully see some fabulous wild flower displays as well as all the other fabulous attraction at Ulverscroft Grange."
