Man in 80s has died following three-vehicle collision at busy Coalville junction

An elderly man who was taken to hospital with serious injuries - following a road traffic collision in Coalville - has passed away.

The incident happened at 10.35am on Monday, at the junction of Broom Leys Road and Stephenson Road.

The collision involved three vehicles – a silver Ford transit van, a black Ford Ecosport and a white Vauxhall Astra.

The driver of the Ecosport - who was in his 80s - was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and Leicestershire Police said today (Friday) that he has since died.

No one else was injured and no arrests have been made at this stage.

Officers continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses or any dash cam footage which may relate.
