A 25-year-old man has been arrested following a robbery in Markfield in December.

The man, who has since been released on bail, was arrested on Thursday in North Wales after getting off a ferry from Ireland.

At around 11.15pm on Wednesday, December 6, a report was received stating that people were attempting to steal from a van parked in Marston Drive.

The van owner approached them and was assaulted, sustaining a head injury.

The suspects then left the scene in a vehicle.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Gamble said: "Our investigation into this incident is continuing and I hope the public can take some reassurance from the fact someone has been arrested.

"We are continuing to appeal for anyone who may be able to help, but who has not yet come forward, to do so."
