Amanda Hack – the Member of Parliament for North West Leicestershire – visited Broom Leys Primary School in Coalville to meet with pupils during her first visit since being elected into the constituency.

The Coalville MP – who gained the seat in the 2024 General Election – toured the school and visited each classroom before meeting with Year 6 pupils, who quizzed her about her role and what she has done in her first six months in post.

Ms Hack outlined her typical weekly schedule and explained why she decided to pursue a career in politics.

The discussion, led by pupils, also touched on important societal issues, with a strong focus on climate change.

Headteacher, Robert Prior, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome Amanda Hack to Broom Leys Primary School.

"She enjoyed a tour of the school and then answered a series of questions from some very inquisitive children in Year 6 who have been learning about democracy and the rule of law.

"Amanda showed a genuine interest in education and has promised to return in the future."

The MP said: "It was lovely visit to Broom Leys Primary School, which is one of the largest primary schools in the constituency.

"During their visit to Parliament last year, I regrettably didn't get the opportunity to meet the second Year 6 class to answer their questions, so it was a pleasure to finally meet them.

"They asked a number of fantastic questions about the environment and even whether I'd managed to meet The King yet!

"I'm genuinely looking forward to visiting again in the future and hosting other groups of children from the school in Parliament."
