Plans to revive the Ivanhoe Line between Leicester and Burton may have taken a leap forwards this week - but the site of a possible new railway station for Coalville is still undecided.
We reported on Saturday morning that the scheme - led by the Campaign to Re-open the Ivanhoe Line (CRIL) - had been given the green light by the Government to move one step further to returning to the town for he first time since the line was closed down as part of the Beeching cuts in 1964.
The Ivanhoe Line is part of the Restoring Your Railway initiative - and one of nine routes currently being backed by the Government.
But as to where a station in Coalville could be - that is another issue.
Coalville Nub News understands that that it will be up to the relevant local authorities - North West Leicestershire District Council and South Derbyshire District Council - to decide where the stations would be situated.
The next stage will involve consultations on station sites by those local authorities - assuming the line is re-opened to passenger trains.
CRIL does not have an opinion on exactly where the stations will be.
The only one that is fixed is Castle Gresley, which is in the South Derbyshire Local Plan.
One site that has been suggested previously is the former market hall in Coalville.
We reported on a possible collaboration with community group Think FC two years ago with a view to making the former market area a railway station.
Ivanhoe railway group working with Coalville regeneration campaigners to try and find common ground.
But it seems as though there will be a wait for the Coalville station even if the Ivanhoe Line is given the final green light to resume passenger trains.
CRIL don't have an opinion on exactly where the stations will be. The only one that is fixed is Gresley, which is in the SDDC Local Plan.
It will be up to the relevant local authorities to decide where the stations will go. The next stage will involve consultations on station sites with local authorities.
Best wishes
