This year's Ibstock Country Fair has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus crisis.

The event was scheduled for August 23 but it has now been rescheduled for August next year.

A post on the Fair's Facebook page confirmed the 'difficult decision'.

The message read: "It is with great sadness that Stuart and Nigel Organisers of the Ibstock Country Fair have taken the difficult decision to cancel this year's event on 23rd August, due to the ongoing situation concerning the Coronavirus."

The Fair was first held in 1996 and is organised and run by a small group who give their time and skills totally voluntarily.

The post continues: "We would like to thank everyone involved who helps to make our show such a fantastic event - our amazing volunteers, helpers, sponsors, exhibitors, and visitors. We know you will be disappointed as we are and we wish you and your families a safe 2020.

"We are now contacting everyone involved with the event as quick as possible to let then know our decision.

"We are now working on next year's event and focusing on making it a truly magnificent extravagance to celebrate our 25th show.

"We would like to welcome you all back on 15th August 2021."
