M1 Closed At Coalville Junction In Early Hours Due To Police Incident

The M1 between Coalville and Loughborough was closed to northbound and southbound traffic in the early hours of Saturday morning due to a police incident.

At around 1am, all traffic from J22 to J23 was stopped in both directions.

Highways England were warning drivers to expect delays and plan an alternate route if possible.

Leicestershire Police were on the scene along with Highways England officers.

Highways England provided a list of diversions for motorists on their website.

UPDATE: Highways England reported at around 1.45am that the northbound and southbound #J22 to #J23A was reopening in both directions 'Within the next 30 minutes or so. Thank you for your patience'.
