A Coalville town centre flat is to be converted into health therapy suites after a planning application was given the green light.

North West Leicestershire District Council planners have given the go-ahead for the scheme above a shop at 14, Ashby Road.

A council officer's report says: "The first floor of the premises is currently in use as a residential flat.

"The ground floor is being used as a shop.

"External alterations are proposed as part of this scheme, which include replacement windows and cladding to the first floor.

"The opening hours of the premises would operate between: 10:00- 20:00 Monday to Friday; 10:00 -17:00 Saturday; Closed Sunday/bank holiday.

"The local Plan outlines that the Council will support retail and main town centre development in the Town Centre of Coalville.

This application proposes the change of use of the first-floor to Health Therapy Suites and as such, the proposed use would not be too dissimilar to that of a shop.

"Given the above, there is no objection to the principle to the proposed development,"

The applicant, Mr Andrew Lidwell of Coalville, says he bought the upper floor property at auction.

Mr Lidwell says he plans to two therapy rooms with a small open waiting/reception area.

One room would be used as an injury repair/ pain relief sports therapy massage and one room would be rented out for holistic treatment use.
