Leicestershire County Council leader Nick Rushton says it could be the the end of the year before services are back to normal.

The council has been forced to close a series of facilities and all of the country parks due to the spread of the Coronavirus and fears over social distancing between members of the public Why Leicestershire country parks had to close

And Cllr Rushton told BBC East Midlands Today on Wednesday that people will have to get used to the new restrictions.

Interviewed by the BBC BBC Leicester he said: "We've shut all the household waste recycling sites, we've shut the parks and the libraries. Things like that.

"We've done all we can to move people around and protect the frontline services for the vulnerable which are the elderly and disadvantaged children.

"We've got parks people out collecting the refuse.

"In other district councils, they've stopped collecting the green waste because they want to concentrate on collecting the main waste.

"Things like that, people are going to have to live with."

But Cllr Rushton did not promise a quick end to the crisis.

He added: "Back to normal? I would say, end of the year.

"Plan for the worst and hope for the best."
