Commissioner invites Coalville residents to speak out in new crime survey

By Graham Hill 16th Sep 2020

A new online survey has launched to gauge public opinion on crime and anti-social behaviour.

The survey asks residents about their personal experience of crime and if they feel that community safety is getting better or worse in their neighbourhood.

Open to residents aged 16 and over, the survey has been developed by Leicestershire Police and Crime Commissioner Lord Willy Bach in partnership with the Violence Reduction Network and Community Safety Partnerships across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR).

Respondents are also asked to provide feedback on how satisfied they are with the emergency services locally and, in the event that they were a victim of crime recently, whether they reported the incident to police.

The information gathered will be used to improve community safety across the LLR area and prevent crime and antisocial behaviour.

It will be conducted annually to enable the Commissioner and partners to better understand changes in the levels and types of crime and antisocial behaviour being experienced by local people over time.

Willy Bach said: "Good or bad - we want to hear your views on crime and antisocial behaviour and whether you feel enough is being done to address your safety concerns and those of your friends and neighbours.

"I want to connect with local people to understand the way they feel about policing and crime in general.

"This is an excellent opportunity to make your voice heard, and I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to complete this survey."

The online survey is open until 23 October 2020.
