Transformation of Coalville's Snibston Colliery site pushing ahead

Work on the £3m regeneration scheme at the former Snibston Colliery site is coming along nicely.

I've been out this afternoon (Weds) for a look around - and to take a few photos.

Despite Covid-19, it seems like nothing will stop this project coming together.

This is something that North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) and its officers are really putting their efforts into delivering for the public.

Not only will it be a valuable community asset used by locals, but it will also bring others from outside the area into Coalville. Which is fantastic, positive news for the town.

It is good to see that the plant machinery and history are being preserved and arranged in such a way that the public can still see and learn from them.

The children's play area is completed, work is well underway on fitting out the environmentally-friendly café and the bike trails and cycle routes are looking great.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the safe cycle path into Coalville the most.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October and has only been made possible thanks to the dedicated team at NWLDC and Leicestershire County Council.
