Coalville venues - old and new - have made to the finals of prestigious county tourism awards
A tourist attraction near Coalville has once again made it to the finals of the Leicestershire Promotions Tourism and Hospitality Awards - along with another newer venue.
The 1620s House & Garden, is run and managed by Leicestershire County Council, and the historic manor house at Donington le Heath has been shortlisted in the Places to Visit category.
The house is a surviving example of a family home built in the 13th century - and then modernised in 1618.
Surrounding the house are period gardens and woodland planted as part of the National Forest.
Councillor Christine Radford, cabinet member for adults and communities, said: "The enthusiasm and commitment of staff and volunteers has made the 1620s House and Garden a delightful experience for the public when visiting.
"I'm delighted that their hard work on making the destination such a fantastic experience has been recognised once again."
But Escape Coalville in the Belvoir Shopping Centre has also been nominated in the same category, along with Bradgate Park, Conkers, Stonehurst Farm, Moira Furnace Museum and Country Park, Windmill Farm Park and King Richard III Visitor Centre.
The winner will be announced on November 24.
Over the next few months, the 1620s House & Garden has lots of exciting events taking place.
These include half -erm fun such as Halloween discos, Pumpkin Plotters hunt and a candlelit witch mark tour, as well as Gunpowder Plot Day, Stir Up Sunday and Christmas activities such as wreath making and Christmas at the Manor.
