Coalville primary school pupils will play a 'completely made up' part at next month's Leicester Comedy Festival

A Coalville primary school is playing its part in this year's Leicester Comedy Festival.

Broomleys Primary School pupils have created a humorous interactive walking trail called The Completely Made-up History of Coalville, which forms part of the UK Kids' Comedy Festival.

This is a self-guided walking trail that tells a fictional story about the history of the town.

The festival describes it as brand new for 2025 and says you can hear the 'hilarious, mysterious, baffling and completely made-up history of some of Coalville's most notorious landmarks'. 

You will be able to access the trail on the app 'GoJauntly' on Android or iOS and search 'The Completely Made-up History Of Coalville from February 5.

Snibston Colliery Park celebrates the area's history of mining and is used as the starting point for the trail.

The Birch Tree in Coalville will also be a venue for the Leicester Comedy Festival.

The Bardon Road venue hosts a comedy night on three Saturday nights next month.

Part of the comedy festival for the third year running, the Birch Tree has shows are on Saturday 8,15 and 22 February.

IT started in 1994 with 40 events programmed into 23 venues over seven days throughout Leicestershire. 

In 1994 it attracted an audience of 5,000 and enjoyed a modest amount of media attention and a high profile within the community.

Since then its has featured top stand-up names such as Jo Brand, Paul Merton, Jack Dee, Dave Gorman, Tony Slattery, Rory Bremner, Barry Cryer, Alan Davies, Jeremy Hardy, Bill Bailey, Garth Marenghi, Rhona Cameron, Ross Noble, Lee Hurst, Johnny Vegas, Simon Day, John Shuttleworth, Daniel Kitson, Rich Hall, Jimmy Carr, Frankie Boyle, The Mighty Boosh, Dara O' Briain, Simon Pegg, Lee Mack, Dave Spikey and Harry Hill.
