Rocket Railways in Coalville has been named as Model Shop of the year 2021-2022 by Central England Prestige.

The Belvoir Road-based shop has grown rapidly since opening in July of last year and featured on UKTV Play which helped build its popularity.

Rocket has over 3,000 subscribers on Youtube, seven members of staff, and two sites.

Managing Director Jason Thickpenny said: "We're really looking good for the coming years.

"It's nice, as well as surprising, to win any award, but given how new we are, we're really proud to win Model Shop of the year for Central England.

"Our ethos to keep this hobby alive for youngsters while helping keeping the costs reasonable.

"We also looking forward to opening up our brand new exhibition which will be open next month."

Central England Prestige also said of the awards: "It has been heartwarming to see local and independent businesses rally together in a tremendous show of community spirit.

"Many of these businesses have gone above and beyond to adapt to the current situation and continue to offer their services.

"We celebrate these businesses and individuals with our Prestige Awards."
