Coalville home the target of arson attack after dustbin was set alight by intruder

A fire was started 'deliberately' in the garden of a Coalville home over the weekend.

Leicestershire Police say a black dustbin was set alight and caused damage to the back door and windows.

But nobody was injured in the blaze which happened at a house in Berrisford Street.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses after a fire in the garden of house in Berrisford Street, Coalville.

"The fire, which is believed was started deliberately, occurred on Saturday night (November 9), between 11pm and 11.30pm.

"Police were called to the property by the fire service around 12.30am yesterday (Sunday).

"The fire was in the rear garden of the house. It is believed someone gained access by using the alleyway at the side of the property.

"A black dustbin was set alight which has caused damage to the back door and windows. Luckily no one was injured in the incident.

"Officers are asking for anyone who was in the area to come forward if they have information.

"They are also appealing for anyone who was driving in the area and may have captured dashcam footage."
