A gaming lounge in Coalville is working with local police to tackle cyber danger and inform children about online safety.

Elite Gaming Lounge hosted educational sessions throughout half-term to reach as many young gamers as possible.

PCSO Nick Bromley led the informative mornings with a presentation, followed by a Q&A session and games.

Harry Kenyon, owner of Elite Gaming Lounge, commented: "With the world of online gaming constantly growing, it's important for children to stay safe online.

"The half term clubs really helped to educate our customers and their parents on internet safety, and I'd like to say a huge thank you to Coalville Police for teaming up with us to help deliver these sessions.

"We're the only independent gaming lounge in the area, so we're proud to be able to make a difference and offer a safe environment where children can have fun, socialise and get competitive."

PCSO Nick Bromley at Coalville Police, added: "I'm really happy to be supporting the Elite Gaming Lounge as they provide a safe environment for children to play games online whilst tackling cyber danger and providing education about staying safe on the internet.

"I ran two sessions over the half term break on Monday 17 February and Wednesday 19 February. I spoke to them about cyber bullying and what to do if someone you don't know tries to engage with you online to encourage reporting and build rapport.†

The unique games hub is also celebrating a successful first year in business this month, with an average of 400 gamers through the doors each week.

The business is now looking to expand with the opening of an additional party room this spring.

Elite Gaming Lounge is open for parties, casual gaming sessions and tournaments. For more information, please visit www.elitegaminglounge.co.uk
