A Coalville bar which was controversially told to leave its town centre site has said it will be re-opening as a new venue soon.

Buddies Bar was forced to close last year as it occupied a site that was due to be a customer service office for North West Leicestershire District Council.

The owners claimed they had been 'chucked out' and denied claims at the time that had been given help to relocate.

But now, Buddies - under the new name of Buddies Lounge - has posted on social media saying that it about to relaunch 'within weeks'.

The new site for the bar will be in Hotel Street - in a building formerly occupied by community cafe Number 22.

The owners had looked at moving into the former Rex Cinema in Coalville when the bar shut a month before Christmas.

But now the applicant, Mr Adrian Freeman, trading under the name, Buddies Bar ltd, has confirmed the intended new localtion.

The Buddies post reads: "Hi everybody - we said we would never give up on Coalville, and we haven't.

"Due to open in the next few weeks is.... BUDDIES LOUNGE.

"With over 800sq ft of space for you to relax and enjoy a great variety of drinks and cocktails.

"We Look forward to seeing you all soon.

"The Buddies team."
