Five crews called out to house fire in Coalville - three people taken to hospital

Five fire crews were called out to a kitchen blaze in Coalville last night (Thursday) - with three people taken to hospital.

The fire broke out at a house in Ashby Road which was closed to traffic just after 9pm.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said two appliances from Coalville plus one each from Ashby, Shepshed and Market Bosworth attended the incident.

A Command Support Vehicle and Welfare Unit were also at the scene.

Leicestershire Fire & Rescue reported that all persons were accounted for following the incident, but said that 'three occupants were conveyed to hospital'.

A report said: "Fire in kitchen, two Breathing Apparatus under Rapid Deployment and one Hose Reel Jet in use.

"All persons are accounted for.

"Four breathing apparatus, two Hose Reel Jets and one Main Jet in use.

"One male and one cat receiving treatment for smoke inhalation."

The fire service later added: "Neighbouring properties have been checked for fire spread and no fire spread located.

"Police, Western Power and Cadent are also now in attendance.

"Three occupants are being conveyed to hospital."

It added that the incident was scaled down shortly after 12.30am."
