A charity which supports victims of domestic abuse has received a donation of £1,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville.

Women's Aid Leicestershire offers several support services to all victims and their children facing, fleeing or recovering from domestic abuse.

These support services include safe accommodation, crisis intervention, counselling and emotional support.

The donation from the Amazon team will directly benefit residents in the refuge accommodation by creating a welcoming and homely environment and ensuring they have all the essentials they need.

Serena Bird, Area Manager from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Coalville nominated the charity for donation.

She said: "Women's Aid Leicestershire is a charity close to my heart. I hope this donation will help to raise more awareness of their work in the community."

Tracey Foster, General Manager at Amazon in Coalville, said: "Women's Aid Leicestershire provides vital services in our community for vulnerable women and children.

"We hope this donation helps the charity continue its important work."

Pamela Richardson, Chief Executive of Women's Aid Leicestershire added: "We are so grateful to Tracey and the team at Amazon for this donation.

"Donations like this ensure we can continue to support our clients across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and raise awareness of domestic abuse."

Women's Aid Leicestershire received the donation as part of Amazon's programme to support communities in and around its operating locations throughout the UK.
