Set in 1950s London, quiet and reserved Mr Williams (Bill Nighy) spends his days working in the Council's planning department but a terminal diagnosis opens his eyes. He determines to make a supreme effort to turn his dull life into something more rewarding by creating a legacy for the next generation.
