VIDEO: Coalville Town seal another victory and attract big crowd on Football for a Fiver Day

By Graham Hill 6th Feb 2022

Coalville Town attracted almost 850 fans for their 2-1 win over Hitchin Town on Football for a Fiver day yesterday (Saturday).

The club made the gesture as a thank you to their fans and - with no Leicester City game on the day - supporters responded.

They were rewarded with another victory that keeps the Ravens second in the Southern League Central division.

The club tweeted: "Today's attendance is 849, thanks for your incredible support."

That had fans asking whether it was a record for a league game at home.

Hitchin Town took the lead after 62 minutes through Jake Hutchinson, but Coalville responded with an equaliser three minutes later from Elliot Putman - with Tim Berridge netting a 72nd minute winner.

Chairman Glyn Rennocks received praise for the reduced prices and the support it attracted.

He Tweeted: "A big thank you for the tremendous turnout and support today, lots of appreciation for our reduced ticket price, so thanks for that as well."

You can see Ravens manager Adam Stevens talking about the game in the video above.
