The 1pm New Year games in the Premier Division Central saw Coalville Town maintain fifth spot after winning 2-0 at Greenwich Avenue in front 571 against Basford United.

The Southern Football League website reported that a Chris Robertson header right on the stroke of half-time gave the visitors an interval lead.

A fine finish from Tom McGlinchey doubled the Ravens` lead eight minutes after the break, and they could have made it 3-0 when McGlinchey was brought down in the box by Ben Starkie.

However, Ash Chambers` penalty was saved by Kieran Preston.

It set Coalville up nicely for Saturday's home clash with table-topping Tamworth on Saturday.

The Staffordshire side come to North West Leicestershire on a roll - with the Ravens looking to hold up their title charge and boost their play off hopes.

It is a fixture which is sure to produce a big crowd for one of the division's games of the day.

Coalville Town's website is urging fans to buy tickets in advance if they can.

The club says: "We are asking all home and away fans to purchase tickets in advance where possible to help speed up entry into the ground.

"Tickets can be purchased via the link HERE.

"If buying online is an issue then don't worry, you can also pay at the turnstile but please note it will be cash only."
