Whitwick swan attack update: Dog owner contacts police

The owner of a Jack Russell that attacked a swan at Whitwick's Hermitage Fishing Lake and Recreation Ground has contacted police investigating the incident.

The swan had to be euthanised following the attack on Tuesday, 19 May.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: "The dog was a Jack Russell and the owner, a woman, has been in contact with us.

"Enquiries are continuing."

The force has partnered with the RSPCA, who attended on the day, and been in contact with the RSPB regarding the investigation.

Anyone with information about the attack should contact PC 237 Emma Holmes from Leicestershire Police Rural Crime Team by calling 101 and quoting reference 20*261519.
