Whitwick Slash Attack Update: Teenager Charged And Set For Court Appearance in Leicester

A 16-year-old has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent after an incident in Whitwick on Wednesday which left a man with slash wounds.

But a 17-year-old, who was also arrested at the same time, has been released on bail.

The 16-year-old is due to appear before Leicester magistrates on Friday morning.

Locals reported as many as nine police cars arriving on the scene at St Bernard's Road at around 7.20pm.

Officers found a man in his 30's who had suffered what a police statement later described as 'slash wounds'.

The teenagers fled the scene and were later found in Coleorton where they were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

A police helicopter was used to track down the pair.

The man was then taken to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment to his injuries.

But Leicestershire Police gave an update on Friday morning.

A spokesman said: "The 17-year-old who was arrested has been released on bail.

"The 16-year-old has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

"He is appearing at Leicester Magistrates Court this morning (Friday)."
