Whitwick Parish Council has reduced its council tax payments for residents by three per cent after holding its annual meeting on Tuesday night.

The Conservative Group of councillors say they are pleased to deliver on their election promise of reducing share of the council tax year on year.

Parish councillor Leon Spence explained what will be delivering over the coming year - and you can see his videio above.

Cllr Spence said: "I''m speaking on behalf of the group of Conservative councillors, the reason is that we've just finished our budget setting meeting for the coming financial year. I'm delighted to be able to tell you we've been able keep our promise.to reduce your council tax.

"We've managed to reduce it by three per cent, that's not a huge amount of parish level, but it does make a difference. We need to tighten our belts as we know you're having to tighten yours as a result of the pandemic.

"Not just about saving money though, we also want to give you the best Parish Council services we possibly can. We are really proud of our park we are really proud of our playgrounds.

"But we know we can do more. We are investing in grit bins and benches, and hopefully in the next month or so, we will see our vehicle activated sign programme up and running to make the roads of Whitwick a little bit safer.

"We know that a Parish Council is all about providing the best possible services for the lowest possible cost, and that's something the Conservative councillors are very proud to try and deliver for you and we'll continue to do that in the next couple of years."
