This weekend's Coalville events cover a wide range of entertainment and activities - and hopefully there is something for everyone.

Don't forget, you can advertise your event for free at Coalville Nub News - and reach thousands of our readers by doing so.

Whether it is a gig, a comedy night, a pub quiz or maybe your monthly society meeting, just fill in the form HERE and we will list it for you in our What's On section.

The annual Heather Scarecrow Festival returns this weekend for seven days.

Once a year, in the nicest possible way, the good people of Heather go slightly insane!

Throughout the village, the gardens are dotted with scarecrows, scores and scores of them, some of celebs, some topical, many of them cheerfully daft, and all competing for the votes of the people who come from miles around to see them.

It's the perfect outdoor family event!

Still in Heather, the village's three-day music festival starts on Friday through to Sunday.

The event is being run in aid of Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

The only multi-venue festival in North West Leicestershire celebrates its 30th anniversary.

With over 40 performers, delicious food, stalls, bouncy castles, and competitions, there is something for the entire family.

In Ibstock, The Detroits are playing live at the Central Bar & Venue.

Debuting at The Central, expect a night of Motown and Northern Soul Classics.

Still in Ibstock, The Palace Community Centre is hosting an art exhibition on Sunday.

Local artists Eszter Katona, better known as Koti, and Cheryl Jenkins are holding an art show to showcase a selection of artworks inspired purely by imagination and intuition.

As such, these artworks span multiple disciplines and are equally diverse in the themes which they explore. The two artists, Cheryl, who was born in Ibstock, and Koti, who is originally from Hungary, have forged an artistic bond over the nine years that they have worked together at Firefly Tattoo Parlour.

Both artists embrace an eclectic mix of artwork styles, and are very much interested in the idea of images being realised from their own inner source, completely embracing the idea of how practising any art form can nurture spiritual connection.

On Monday, it is time to pull on your costume and enter stage left for an exciting Play in a Day workshop being held at the 1620s House in Donington le Heath.

Spend the day with actors from Chorus Theatre and learn how to write and act out your own play in the inspiring setting of our 17th century House and Gardens, then perform it for your grown-ups in the evening!

The performance itself will take place in the House and will begin at 5.30pm.
