The 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings plays an important part in Coalville over the weekend.
For the younger members of the community, Newmarket in Marlborough Square is marking the occasion on Saturday between 10-4pm.
This is a free event and features a kids' quiz trail, a D-day themed creative kids' club and a children's 1940s style fancy dress competition.

Coalville will come to a standstill on Sunday morning as the Whitwick Royal British Legion-organised D-Day 80th Anniversary is held in Memorial Square.
This will be a special occasion alongside the Clock Tower, with people gathering from 9.30am onwards.

Sunday also sees the Coalville Community Fun Run at Snibston Colliery Park.
Coalville Belvoir Rotary Club have organised the second running of this event.
It provides an opportunity for the community to come together and support local charities and service providers.
This year the charities that are being supported are: Love4Life, Wishes4Kids and Bright Hope.

The Century Theatre in Coalville hosts Funhouse Comedy on Saturday night.
