What's On in the Coalville and Ibstock area this weekend

This weekend's events in Coalville and Ibstock cover a wide range of entertainment and activities over Halloween - hopefully there is something for everyone.

It is Halloween of course, and there are plenty of spooky events to get involved in over the next few days.

Newmarket in Coalville has two events in Marlborough Square.

Today (Thursday) there is music from Wild Blue Heart from 10.30am.

This is a free event and fancy dress is welcome.

Then, on Saturday, Newmarket hosts a Spooktacular Creative Kids Club.

Starting at 10.30am, there will be:

• Free spooky fun, crafts and activities

• Drawing competition

• Best dressed costume competition

• Prizes to be won and more!

Also on Saturday, the 1620s House at Donington le Heath has a Monsters' Mash day for kids.

Calling all ghosties, ghouls and short leggedy beasties…. come down to the ancient barn at the 1620s House and Garden for a rave from the grave.

Disco, party games, fancy dress competition food and Halloween crafts.

This event is suitable for 7 – 12yrs. For Children aged 3-6 yrs.

The Donington Arms in Donington le Heath is a holding a Family Halloween Night on Saturday.

There will be a karaoke disco in the evening with pumpkin carving competitions, fancy dress with prizes for best dressed child and adult, party bags for the kids, main menu, kebabs and pizzas.

The Charles Booth Centre in Thringstone is having its Autumn Concert entitled The Crow on the Cradle.

It is an event which celebrates the end of summer with an eclectic collection of harvest songs - with a little nod towards the spooky time of the year!

Calling Time will be performing and adding their own take on the season.

The Palace in Ibstock is holding a Scary Skittles night on Saturday.

It will be a Halloween-themed skittles night at High Street venue.

A fish and chips supper included - and teams of six can take part.

The Living Without Abuse Coalville Halloween Fun Run takes place on Sunday morning.

Entrants can run or walk the 5km (2 lap) route which uses the marked footpaths within Snibston Colliery Park.

A shorter 2.5km route can be taken if needed.

Watch out, there may be some spooky surprises along the way!

Fancy dress is permitted and there will be prizes for the best dressed entrants and canine companion.

Pumpkin Carving, refreshments and entertainment will be available on the day.

On Sunday, the Marlene Reid Centre in Coalville is hosting a Makers Market.

After the success of the centre's last local craft market a few weeks ago, the team are putting on their next event for all things creative.

Browse and purchase beautiful handmade creations for yourself or as gifts ahead of the festive season.
