The Century Theatre in Coalville is showing The Woman King on Saturday night.

It is an American historical drama film about the Agojie, the all-female warrior unit that protected the West African kingdom of Dahomey during the 17th to 19th centuries.

Set in the 1820s, the film stars Viola Davis as a general who trains the next generation of warriors to fight their enemies.

On Friday, the Century stages Bossy - at 11am and 1pm.

Beth is confident, clever and wants to become the world's best leader. But people keep calling her bossy.

When Beth decides to run for Head Girl, she must embark on a quest to find out who she really is, what she stands for.

On a hunt to find a role model she can call her own, she finds herself bopping with pop stars and mingling with mermaids. But Beth soon realises that what's really important might be found in her roots a little closer to home.

It is a busy weekend at the Central Bar and Grill in Ibstock.

Friday sees a new monthly date for Central Rock 'n Roll.

With a distinct 50s theme, the night features The Moonshiners.

On Saturday, the same venue hosts the Ibstock Soul Club.

Listen and dance the night away to the sounds of the Four Tops, Temptations,Supremes, Elgins, Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Ruffin, Frank Wilson & many more plus Chairman of the Board, Ojays, Trammps, Candi Staton, Otis Redding, Arthur Conley, Drifters, the list goes on.

Friday sees Visitation playing live - and featuring covers of classics from Hawkwind and Pink Floyd.
