A group of frontline NHS staff at Coalville Community Hospital have made a video with a 'message of hope' for 2021.

Staff from the hospital's Snibston Ward say they have made it to send out positivity during 'trying times'.

The video features a reading of In Memoriam By Alfred Lord Tennyson, and the moving seven minute clip ends with a shot of a rainbow.

But it also includes a tribute to a colleague who sadly passed away after having cancer.

Marigold Verzosa Villarosa contacted Coalville Nub News to explain why they decided to make the video.

She said: "We are all working at Snibston Ward at Coalville Community Hospital and just decided to do this poem for New Year for all Frontliners like us.

"Somehow just giving a message of hope for us, but now I think it sums up that this is for everyone especially now.

"It is our first time doing a video, so pardon us if we're not perfect.

"But at least we've done our best as some of us are camera shy even if we did it ourselves.

"We are not poets nor actors, but we just wanted to send a message of hope and positivity to everyone especially in these trying times. Love from all of us."

She also explained the reference to Lesley at the end of the video: "Lesley sadly passed away suddenly due to Cancer just last year.

"If she was here, we know she would be with us laughing and doing a part of the video.

"We all love her and everyone knew her because she'd been working in the hospital for 25 years.

"She had been a rock in the ward. Someone you could talk to when we were feeling stressed in a shift.

"Personally she was like an older sister to me because she looked after us, reminding us to drink water or put the bed up when you make the bed.

"Little things that can make you smile. She was the life of the party because on our Christmas do or any party of the staff she was bubbly and made us laugh and we know we had lovely company when she was around. That's why we dedicated this video as well for her because we know that she's here with us saying Cheers me duck or Cheers me dear."
