Unpaid carers across Leicestershire are being offered all-year-round free entry to two top attractions near Coalville.

Free adult admission is available at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and 1620s House and Gardens for anyone with a valid Carers Passport.

Tickets will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue and will also be eligible for a free tea or coffee (and cake at 1620s House) on their first visit.

This year's offer coincides with Carers Week, a national week to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities.

The offer is open to carers who have or can evidence that they have a current adult Carers Passport when visiting either of the attractions, and free tickets need to be claimed by August 31.

Jon Wilson, Director of Adults and Communities at Leicestershire County Council, said: "Unpaid carers make an incredible difference to our local communities. I'd encourage anyone who has not registered for their Carers Passport to do so before the 31 August deadline.

"Not only will you be able to take advantage of this offer, but you will also have access to the Support for Carers service which provides advice and support on our behalf."

A Carers Passport is an ID card for adults caring for a loved one, friend or neighbour aged 18 and over living in Leicestershire who could not manage without their support, and they are not employed to look after them.

A Carers Passport holder who visited the 1620s House and Garden last year said: "I took the person I care for in her wheelchair and we were made very welcome.

"My Carers Passport was accepted with no trouble, and I was issued with an annual ticket.

"We were well looked after, and our visit concluded with a pot of tea and a delicious slice of cake. This is a very worthwhile benefit for carers and I'm sure others would enjoy visiting."

Applications for a Carers Passport can be made by calling Support for Carers on 01858 468543 or email [email protected] giving your details and a phone number. Please quote FREEPASS 2024 when making an application. More information is available HERE.
