Two men have been charged after drugs worth almost £750,000 were recovered from a unit in Coalville - with 1,000 plants inside.

Four were arrested in total, with two appearing before magistrates in Leicester yesterday (Monday).

Police raided the property in Baker Street, close to the town centre, last week and uncovered a huge cannabis factory.

The raid took place on Friday (May 27) and full details have now been released.

A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police told Coalville Nub News: "Bajram Isaku (36) of Baker Street, Coalville and Blerim Kamberi (23) of no fixed address, have been charged with production of cannabis.

"They appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court yesterday (Monday, May 30).

"Two other men, aged 52 and 66, were also arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and released on bail pending further enquiries.

"The charges relate to a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act that was executed at the unit – nearly 700 cannabis plants were recovered from the premises."

North West Leicestershire Police posted about the discovery on social media and said: "Officers from North West completed an enforcement warrant over the weekend.

"This resulted in four arrests, two charged and remanded to court. Investigation continues so watch out!

"Nearly three quarters of a million pounds worth of drugs recovered! #thinkoftheconsequences"
