Coalville firefighters were called out to deal with a van fire on the M1 early on Saturday morning.

They joined Loughborough fire crew at the incident in lane three of the southbound motorway.

Highways England say they are on scene dealing with a collision and a vehicle fire - currently Lanes two and three are closed whilst the damage is assessed and the vehicle is recovered.

The alarm was raised by Leicestershire Police Tactical Dogs & Firearms Unit on their way back from a patrol at East Midlands Aiport.

Latest updates say the M1 Leicestershire southbound has severe disruption, between J23 for A512 Ashby Road East and J22 for A50 Coalville.

Two lanes are closed and queues on M1 southbound between J23, A512 (Loughborough) and J22, A50 (Coalville), because of a vehicle on fire.
