Thringstone residents have set up a fundraiser for a family of a key workers who 'lost almost everything' in a house fire last week.

The villagers have rallied around following the incident in Melrose Road which is said to have 'destroyed' the house.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue reported they were called out on Thursday morning.

The fire was caused by a faulty fuse box.

But now a Gofundme page has been set up by neighbours and villagers who are keen to help the woman and her family.

The woman is a key worker, with three young girls, looking after people with disabilities, which she has continued to do throughout the pandemic.

There is also a tin at the Thringstone Village Store Select And Save who posted: "Donations are for a very kind lady and her family who lost almost everything in a house fire.

"She is a resident of Thringstone and a very respectable lady.

"Let's bring the community together and help this family in time of need.

"All donations gratefully received, thank you all."

The target figure is £1,000. Details of the Gofundme page appeared on the Friends of Thringstone Facebook page which reads: "Following a house fire, a family on Melrose Road are now having to struggle whilst their house is made safe for a few weeks.

"A Gofundme page has now been started. If anybody would like to give, here are the details: Key worker's house destroyed by fire
